Seafood Expo Global in Brussels
This year the Seafood Expo Global takes place in Brussels Expo from 25th – 27th of April. It’s the world’s biggest seafood exposition with more than 26,000 attendees. And that does not go by unnoticed here at Brussels Airport.
26,000 buyers, suppliers and industry professionals from all over the world – from 140 countries to be exact – travel to Brussels these days. In other words: chances are quite big you’ll bump into a Seafood Expo Global attendee at Brussels Airport these days.
The types of seafood on display at the Seafood Expo Global reflect the rich variety of the oceans: lobster, squid, shrimps, mussels,… In 2016, more than 6000kg of the seafood on display at the expo was shipped through Brussels Airport. Here at Brussels Airport we specialize in the transport of temperature-sensitive products such as pharmaceuticals or perishables, of which of course a lot of seafood. In 2016, Belgium as a whole imported 6758 tons of seafood and fish via air. 3202 tons of those were imported through Brucargo. Belgian seafood export is somewhat more modest: Belgium as a whole exported 317 tons of fish in 2016, of which 217 tons through Brucargo.
Together with 192 other airports from 24 different countries, Brussels Airport is signing up to the ‘NetZeroCarbon2050’ resolution from the ACI Europe airport association not to emit any more CO2 at the latest by 2050.
